COUNTY EXECUTIVE CONTINUES TO PROVIDES LAND CLAIM INFORMATION

Oneida County Executive Ralph J. Eannace Jr. announced today a series of steps that Oneida County has taken to continue to provide updated information to all persons who may be affected by, or interested in, the Oneida Indian Land Claim case. Eannace reiterated the availability of three specific opportunities, which are available to all persons interested in learning the latest information on the Oneida Indian Land Claim:

  1. Land Claim e-mail address: landclaim@co.oneida.ny.us This e-mail address allows interested persons to send opinions and queries to the attention of the County Executive and all requests will be answered as soon as possible.
  2. Land Claim Hotline: 798-5545 (for local calls) or 1-800-541-0151, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. This toll free call allows the caller the opportunity to speak with a representative to voice reaction to developments, and to receive the answer to questions concerning the land claim.
  3. Press Release – County Executive Provides Land Claim Information

  4. Land Claim Web Site: http://www.oneidacounty.org This continually updated internet site provides a viewing of pertinent documents associated with the land claim, including the court rulings, legislative resolutions, press releases, and the County Executive’s letter to the interested parties.

Eannace said, "We need the public’s understanding, feedback, and support as we continue this difficult and unprecedented venture. We are committed to keeping our community informed about each step in the mediation process, and making sure everyone has an opportunity to ask questions and share their thoughts."

"There is no question that the settlement process affords the best way for us to lift the cloud of threats to people’s title to their lands and replace it with a new opportunity for all of us to grow together, with everyone secure in their place in our region's future. We will continue to work toward a reasonable settlement."
