Picente Announces Appointment of Ava Resident
to Board of Waste Authority

Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente, Jr. today announced that he has appointed James M. Williams of Ava to the Board of the Oneida-Herkimer Solid Waste Authority to fill the remained of a term that expires in December 2011.

“I strongly believe that it is important to have the voice of a North Country resident on the board so that the decision-making process can have the appropriate level of comment from those affected by the board’s decisions and actions,” Picente said. “Serving on this board is a tireless and thankless duty, and I commend Mr. Williams for his dedication to the public good and his willingness to approach the issues facing our region in a fashion that will help develop the best possible solutions for all people.”

Williams, who is retired from the United States Postal Service, is a U.S. Army veteran who served in the Vietnam War, in which he was awarded the Purple Heart and Silver Star.

“Mr. Williams served his country as a soldier, and he now serves his community through his dedication of many hours of time to the best interests of the community and the region. I welcome him to the board.”
