Employment Division
The Employment Division is committed to the philosophy that the best way to succeed in the job market is to join it, developing work habits and skills on the job. By coordinating with the local JOBS staff, Workforce Development, community agencies, as well as the disability community, the Employment Division is able to provide a wide range of job-seeking and retention activities.
Temporary Assistance applicants and recipients and Food Stamp recipients are usually referred by their eligibility examiner to either the Utica or Rome Employment Division office to work register. Case Managers in the Employment Division work to meet State and Federal requirements while individually tailoring an Employment Plan to the talents and needs of recipients.
When a Temporary Assistance individual with children obtains a job, he or she is assigned an eligibility examiner who is located at the Employment Center. This allows for easier coordination of appointments, and communication with their Employment Case Manager. When the Temporary Assistance case closes due to wages, transitional services are available such as Medicaid, Food Stamps, Daycare, transportation, and community referrals to meet the family’s needs.
If you are on Temporary Assistance and have not been referred to meet with Employment Division staff, please contact your examiner. If you have recently closed your Temporary Assistance case, or have questions about transitional services such as Day Care, Medicaid or work expenses, please call the Utica Employment Center located at 209 Elizabeth St., First Floor, Utica. Phone calls should be directed to 798-5015. The Rome office is located with the Temporary Assistance office at 300 West Dominick St., Rome. Phone calls should be directed to 338-0200.
